Solitaire Turn 3
Solitaire Turn 3 uses the familiar Klondike board but reveals three stock cards at a time. Only the top card of the waste pile can be played, so the order of the stock matters more than it does in Turn 1.
How to Play Solitaire Turn 3
- Build tableau columns downward in alternating colors. For example, a black 8 may be placed on a red 9.
- Move any correctly ordered face-up sequence together.
- Turn an exposed face-down tableau card face up by clearing the cards below it.
- Place only a King, or a legal sequence beginning with a King, in an empty tableau column.
- Click the stock to reveal up to three cards. Only the top waste card is available to move.
- When the stock is empty, click it again to recycle the waste and continue.
- Build the four foundations upward by suit, from Ace through King.
Click an available card to send it to a legal destination, or drag a card or sequence when you want to choose the destination. Hint highlights a useful movable card without playing it for you.
Turn 3 Compared With Turn 1
The tableau and foundation rules are identical. The difference is the stock: Turn 1 exposes every stock card in sequence, while Turn 3 exposes only every third card until cards are removed or the stock is recycled. This makes planning the waste pile more important and usually makes Turn 3 harder.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use all three cards that are dealt?
Not immediately. Only the top card of the waste pile can be moved. Removing it exposes the next card underneath.
Can I go through the stock again?
Yes. After the stock is empty, click the empty stock space to recycle the waste pile. This version allows unlimited passes.
Can any card fill an empty tableau column?
No. Only a King or a movable sequence beginning with a King can fill an empty column.
How do I win?
Move all 52 cards to the four foundations, separated by suit and ordered from Ace through King.
