Layout
52 face-up cards, 8 tableau columns, 0 storage cells, and 4 foundation piles.
Tableau building

Foundations

Play the opening in this order

  1. Scan the whole board for Aces, Twos, and the low cards buried deepest.
  2. With no cells available, plan two or three tableau moves before committing the first card.
  3. The left four columns build in alternating colors; the right four build downward by suit.
  4. An empty left column accepts any card; an empty right column accepts only a King.
  5. The left side exposes one movable card per column; the right side can move a visible block to a legal destination.
  6. Release low cards first and complete all 4 foundations from Ace through King.

Tips for a better deal

  • Decide whether a card belongs in the flexible left zone or the stricter same-suit right zone.
  • Empty columns are your only temporary workspace, so do not consume one without a follow-up move.
  • Before creating an empty column, decide which blocked sequence it will help release.
  • Send low cards to the foundations when safe, but do not bury a card still needed to build the tableau.

Antares FAQ

How is Antares different from classic FreeCell?

Antares has no cells and splits eight columns into two rule zones: four alternating-color columns and four same-suit columns. Empty right-side columns accept only Kings.

Can I move several cards at once?

The left side exposes one movable card per column; the right side can move a visible block to a legal destination.

What can enter an empty tableau column?

An empty left column accepts any card; an empty right column accepts only a King.

Why do the left and right columns behave differently?

That split is the defining rule: the left half uses alternating colors, while the right half builds by suit and reserves empty columns for Kings.

Is Antares suitable for beginners?

It is better after you know classic FreeCell. Read the exact tableau and empty-column rules above, then use Hint or Undo to learn which moves the variant permits.

Is Antares free to play?

Yes. Play in your browser for free with no download or registration required.
