Penguin Solitaire

Penguin Solitaire is a FreeCell-family variant. The goal is still to move every suit from Ace through King to the foundations, but its tableau, storage-cell, and empty-column rules differ from classic FreeCell.

How to play

Build the tableau downward in the same suit: 9♠ may go on 10♠, but 9♥ may not. Each of the seven storage cells holds one card. Only a King or a valid King-led same-suit sequence may enter an empty column. Release Aces and low cards first, then use cells and empty columns to organize complete suit sequences.

Play the opening in this order

  1. Scan the whole board for Aces, Twos, and the low cards buried deepest.
  2. Use the 7 cells only to uncover a useful card; keep at least one empty when possible.
  3. Build downward in the exact same suit: 9♠ may go on 10♠, but 9♥ may not.
  4. Only a King, or a legal sequence beginning with a King, may enter an empty column.
  5. A legal sequence may move together. The limit is (empty cells + 1) × (empty columns + 1).
  6. Release low cards first and complete all 4 foundations from Ace through King.

Tips for a better deal

  • Check the suit, not just the color, before planning a tableau connection.
  • Do not fill all 7 cells at once; an open cell increases the sequence length you can move.
  • Identify a usable King before clearing a column, because no other rank can enter it.
  • Send low cards to the foundations when safe, but do not bury a card still needed to build the tableau.
