Klondike Solitaire Turn 1
Play the classic version of Solitaire with one 52-card deck. Seven tableau columns contain both face-down and face-up cards, while the remaining cards form the stock. Turn over one stock card at a time and move every suit to its foundation from Ace through King.
How to Play Klondike Solitaire
- Build tableau columns downward in alternating colors: a black 8 can go on a red 9.
- Move a correctly ordered face-up sequence together.
- When a face-down tableau card becomes exposed, it turns face up.
- Only a King, or a sequence beginning with a King, can enter an empty tableau column.
- Click the stock to turn one card onto the waste pile. When the stock is empty, click it again to recycle the waste.
- Build each foundation upward by suit, beginning with an Ace and ending with a King.
Select a card or valid sequence, then select its destination. Double-click an exposed card to send it to a legal foundation automatically. Use Undo to reverse a move and Hint when you need a useful next step.
Klondike and FreeCell Are Different
Klondike hides cards and uses a stock and waste pile, so luck and uncovering cards are central to the game. FreeCell deals every card face up and replaces the stock with four temporary cells. Both belong to the Solitaire family, but their boards and legal moves are different.

Is Klondike the same as classic Solitaire?
Yes. When a website or computer menu simply says “Solitaire,” it usually means Klondike Solitaire.
What does Turn 1 mean?
Turn 1 means that each click on the stock reveals one card. Turn 3 reveals three cards at a time and is usually harder.
